About UsIgbo911 was conceived in the year 2001 out of a desire to provide a functional resource to teach all children born to Igbo parents outside the home land how to speak Igbo language (asụsụ Igbo). As hope for an endangered language www.igbo911.com was launched in 2008 as a web based interactive Igbo language learning resource. Igbo911 is privately funded and supported by the free will Donations of our students and guests like you.
Dr. Izu Asiegbunam is the Founder of Igbo911. With students and contributors from over one hundred and seventy three countries and territories Igbo911 is used by several thousands of households and Igbo language Schools. By this trail blazing initiative, Dr. Asiegbunam launched Igbo language into a new dawn. He is involved in several cutting edge projects to make Igbo language relevant in contemporary innovation processes. He is passionate about packaging Igbo educational materials in portable devices for the generation-y audience. The mobile Igbo dictionary is designed for the Smart Phone. Recently, he redefined Igbo language preservation and development by establishing a globally accessible portal which he is using to acquire Igbo knowledge data from all the leading experts to establish a repository of Igbo language knowledge. His dream of a world in which every single person on the planet is given access to the sum of all knowledge of Igbo language and culture in every dialect from every community is being realized as this resources is accessed daily from many more cities and countries.
With over 50,000 entries in our data base, Igbo911 continues to grow as a functional and dynamic resource for Igbo language education and development.
