Igbo Alphabets

Conventionally there are 36 alphabets in Igbo language.
Eight of these are vowels,
Nine are blends and
Nineteen are consonants.

To enable us demonstrate more words and sounds from the diverse dialects of Igbo, we have coined the blend Wh from English and adapted the letter Ż from the west European language literature to supplement the conventional alphabets. We hope that our students,the users of this resource as well as the contributors will appreciate the flavour this addition brings to literature in our beautiful language.
